GENEVA. April 18 (Interfax) - Participants of the four-party talks in Geneva intend to continue meetings in various formats, and it is hoped the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will take their wishes into account, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We have agreed that we will continue to meet in different formats and I hope that our colleagues, who currently ensure the work of the OSCE mission in Ukraine, will hear our appeal," Lavrov said following the four-party talks between Russia, the United States, the European Union and Ukraine in Geneva.
He emphasized that the meeting participants could not decide for the OSCE but they could urge the organization to keep in mind their wishes and to use its powers for easing tensions.
"We will insist on an honest and impartial work of the mission, which should address and focus its efforts on every aspect mentioned in our statement, including the tasks we deem as the most important - the release of the persons arrested for being involved in political actions. We put a special emphasis on the case of Donetsk popular governor Pavlo Hubarev," the minister noted.
It is also necessary to adamantly stop any manifestations of extremism, Lavrov said.
