Bill amnestying Ukraine protesters is ready - PM Yatsenyuk

KYIV. April 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian cabinet has drafted a bill that grants amnesty to protesters who agree to surrender their weapons and vacate illegally occupied buildings and other public places in the country's cities and towns, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

"Such an amnesty will be announced only if the persons who illegally took up arms and occupied buildings agree to surrender their weapons and free these buildings. We believe that such people should be amnestied," he said in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.

Hopefully, this bill will be registered in parliament and supported by the majority of MPs, including opposition members, in the near future, Yatsenyuk said.

"Such a bill has been prepared. If the entire Ukrainian parliament, including our political opponents, wants it, this bill will be registered immediately. Let's put it up for a vote," he said.
