Kazakh president calls Ukraine events "thought-provoking"

ASTANA. April 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian crisis can be settled only by peaceful methods, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said.

"We are convinced that the people of Ukraine should resolve their domestic problems on their own, without any foreign interference and by holding peaceful negotiations with all of the sides concerned. We both sympathize with them and are actively working to make this happen," Nazarbayev said at the 21st session of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan in Astana on Friday.

"The events that are taking place there [in Ukraine] today are thought-provoking for each of us," he said.
