Luhansk regional council demands all-Ukraine referendum on state structure, status of Russian language be held

KYIV. April 18 (Interfax) - Deputies of the Luhansk regional council have demanded that a referendum on the state structure of Ukraine and on giving the Russian language the status of a second state language be held immediately.

"In the coming days an all-Ukraine referendum should be held on two issues - on the state structure of Ukraine with giving maximum powers to regions and on the state status of the Russian language," the Luhansk regional council said in a statement passed at a Friday meeting.

"Millions people insist these demands should be implemented," the document said.
