Number of Russians denied entry to Ukraine on decline - State Border Service

KYIV. April 18 (Interfax) - The number of Russian citizens denied entry to Ukraine was reduced by Friday afternoon following recommendations the Ukrainian State Border Service gave on Thursday.

"People took the recommendations into consideration and the number of persons who were denied entry declined," Ukrainian State Border Service press secretary Oleh Slobodian told Interfax.

In his words, the decision to tighten border control will be implemented in full. "However, the State Border Service and other law enforcement agencies are updating recommendations concerning the admission of Russian citizens at state border posts," Slobodian said.

He said the service would post the recommendations as soon as they were updated. "I mean we are specifying the mechanism as to who has the right to cross the Ukrainian border and when," Slobodian said.

The Ukrainian State Border Service significantly limited entry to adult male citizens of the Russian Federation on April 17 under the pretext of a threat of terror attacks.
