Russian Consulate in Kharkiv requests explanation over entry ban

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - The Russian Consulate General in Kharkiv has received formal answers from local officials to its requests for explanations of the instances of Russians being barred from entering Ukraine.

"We respond to such situations within our remit, by sending requests to local authorities. While they reply in due time, their replies are ambiguous: they cite rule violations, their replies are formulaic," a source in the Russian Consulate General in Kharkiv told Interfax.

Some 600 Russian were barred from entering Ukraine in the past 24 hours alone since Ukraine banned entry for Russian men aged 16 to 60. According to the Ukrainian State Border Service, entry has been denied to approximately 13,000 Russians, Western media said.
