MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has described a European Parliament resolution of April 17 "on Russian pressure on Eastern Partnership countries and in particular destabilization of eastern Ukraine" containing a call for the EU Council to be ready for a third phase of economic sanctions against Russia as biased and partial.
"The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly aired its judgment about such politically biased and insulting initiatives by European Parliamentarians. All this is just another sign of the stubborn unwillingness of the European Parliament members to rely on common sense and objective facts in their work. Against this background, the calls for a 'frank and open dialogue' with Russia, as well as the voices of the sensible minority of the European parliamentarians, are sinking in the chorus of aggressive rhetoric," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
"There is the impression that the European parliamentarians passed the resolution in a rush, trying to make history before the expiration of their mandate, but they obviously did not expect that they would fire blank amid productive four-party negotiations in Geneva," it said.
