KYIV. April 21 (Interfax) - A TNT block and three hand grenades were found during a border checkpoint inspection in a bus that had crossed the frontier into Ukraine from Moldova, the Ukrainian Ministry of Revenues and Levies said.
The ministry said in a statement that the ammunition was spotted by operatives from the ministry's anti-smuggling division, customs officers and border guards.
The 200-gram TNT block, the F-1 grenades and two detonators were inside paint cans packed into a bag that also contained overalls and construction tools.
The driver said he had received the bag from a man he didn't know in Tiraspol, capital of Moldova's breakaway Transdniestria region. The bag was to be collected in Ukraine's Odesa region, the region the vehicle was crossing into from Moldova. The driver said he hadn't known what was in the bag.
The passengers were evacuated, and the vehicle was taken off the road. Ukrainian Security Service detectives and police bomb disposal experts arrived at the site urgently.
