Poroshenko may pay his first foreign visit to Poland

KYIV. May 26 (Interfax) - Ukrainian presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko says he may pay his first foreign visit to Poland.

"As you might remember, my first [domestic] visit will be paid to Donbas. As to the foreign visit, it may be Poland," Poroshenko told reporters on Sunday.

He also said he expected the soonest possible inauguration of the president elect.

"I think this will happen very quickly, we have a lot of work to do," Poroshenko said.

The politician said he would sell his assets after the inauguration ceremony as promised.

"Speaking of my business, a contract with an investment company regarding the search for buyers will be concluded right after that," he noted.

The BBC said that Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski congratulated Poroshenko on the phone on Sunday on his victory in the Ukrainian presidential election and invited him to visit Poland on June 3-4, during celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the first semi-free parliamentary election in the communist bloc.

U.S. President Barack Obama will visit Poland on this occasion. He is due to meet with the chiefs of Central and East European states on June 3.
