Abkhaz army not intervening in internal political situation in Abkhazia, talks with opposition continuing - defense minister

SUKHUMI. May 28 (Interfax) - The Abkhaz army is not intervening in the internal political situation in the republic, Abkhaz Defense Minister Mirab Kishmariya said.

"The army is not intervening in anything. Negotiations with the opposition are continuing now," Kishmariya told Interfax.

There were some clashes between opposition and pro-government activists during the protests, "but there have been no casualties," he said.

"The situation is under control now, and the negotiations are continuing," he said.
