MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - The crew of the small anti-boat ship Zelenodolsk has successfully performed drills aimed a detecting and destroying a hypothetical enemy's submarine in the Baltic Sea, the press service and information department of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday.
"At sea, the crew of the vessel performed drills aimed at looking for a hypothetical enemy's submarine and combating a submarine using anti-boat weapons. During the anti-boat drills, the crew of the small anti-boat vessel performed drills aimed at finding, classifying, and tracking submarines," the report says.
After that, the detected submarine was 'destroyed' using reactive bombs and torpedoes installed on the vessel, the Defense Ministry reported.
The crew of the vessel also conducted shots at sea and air targets using artillery systems and performed various interior exercises.
The naval units are protecting the Russian state border, naval communications and navigation safety. They organize air defense and locate above-water vessels and submarines of simulated enemies.
