Russia demands security guarantees for its diplomatic missions in Ukraine (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has demanded that the Ukrainian leadership take measures to guarantee security for the Russian diplomatic missions in Ukraine.

"We demand that the Ukrainian leadership take all necessary measures to guarantee security to the Embassy and to the consulates general in Odesa, Kharkiv and Lviv, and create conditions for their normal work. Responsibility for this rests entirely with the Ukrainian authorities," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that, "serious damage was done to the Russian embassy's building and property on June 14 in an illegal action, which was not dealt with adequately by the Ukrainian law enforcement services."

"Provocative actions took place on June 16 near the buildings of the Russian consulates general in Odesa and Kharkiv," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
