Ukrainian source reports fighting east of Luhansk

KYIV. June 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian law enforcement units have clashed with the armed opposition in the east of the Luhansk region, Ukrainian army operation spokesman Vladyslav Seleznyov said.

A Ukrainian unit "detected a large convoy of militants in the east of the Luhansk region" on Monday, he said. "The militants opened fire. The Ukrainian servicemen were positioned for all round defense. Reinforcements were rapidly sent to the area to support the Ukrainian unit," Seleznyov wrote on Facebook on Tuesday morning.

The opposition lost 30 men killed and wounded, Seleznyov said. "One Ukrainian serviceman was injured," he added.
