MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to train anti-drug personnel for Pakistan bilaterally instead of the program in the framework of the NATO-Russia Council, FSKN Chief Viktor Ivanov said.
"It is possible to organize the work with Pakistani partners on issues of training personnel bilaterally. Everything necessary for this exists. There is training center and there are experienced teachers and modern methods," Ivanov said in Moscow on Tuesday at a meeting of a governmental committee for implementing anti-drug programs ensuring Russia's interests in Central Asia.
"Pakistanis have successfully trained their personnel in Russia in the framework of the NATO-Russia Council, which, unfortunately, decreased its work sharply lately," Ivanov said.
NATO has decided to scale down a number of practical cooperation projects with Russia over disagreements on Ukraine.
"Pakistanis are interested in inviting foreign instructors to train their staff or sponsoring courses being held by own teachers on the basis on the Pakistani academy of antidrug forces," Ivanov said.
Pakistan is interested in cooperating with Russia on issues of fighting Afghani heroin and is ready to provide its fleet for antidrug operations, he said.
