Russia ready to assist in starting Armenian-Turkish dialogue

YEREVAN. June 23 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to assist in the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions.

"Russia and other countries supporting Armenian-Turkish normalization call for ratifying these protocols without preconditions," Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian said at a press conference on Monday, responding to a question about Moscow's possible assistance in the improvement of Armenian-Turkish relations. The minister added that the Russian position had been expressed in numerous statements.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the press conference Russia was ready to help normalize relations between Armenia and Turkey.

"Let me add that this is really so. Before and after the protocols were signed, we were campaigning for the continuation of Armenian-Turkish dialogue," he said, reaffirming the Russian readiness to help.

At the same time, Lavrov said the two sides had the final say.
