Computer to be used to improve accuracy of Su-25 fighter bomber weaponry

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Sukhoi Su-25 fighter bomber will be equipped with a computer which is expected to enhance the accuracy of the plane's unguided ordnance, the Gefest & T company's general director, Alexander Panin, told Interfax-AVN.

"The first Su-25 fighter bomber will be fitted out with the SVP-24-15 computer sub-system in July-August," Panin said.

"Application of the new system will help upgrade the accuracy of unguided ordnance to that of guided weapons," he also said.

The SVP-24 sub-system was initially designed for Su-24M fighter bombers. The subsystem's derivatives were also designed to be installed aboard the planes Tupolev Tu-22M3 and L-39, and Kamov Ka-52 helicopters.

Reports said earlier that modernization of Su-24M combat planes is to last until 2015.
