MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - Russia should do everything possible to help end the military conflict in southeastern Ukraine, Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council's international affairs committee, said.
"When the Federation Council adopted the March 1, 2014 decree, our goal was to prevent an unfavorable development of the situation in Ukraine. Now we need to do everything possible to end the military conflict in southeastern Ukraine and reduce further escalation of tensions, which has caused numerous casualties among civilians," Dzhabarov said at the Federation Council meeting on Wednesday.
The senator said the administration of Ukraine in the past few months tried to convince the international community that the situation in southeastern Ukraine "was caused by direct intervention by Russia, that the Russian Armed Forces are interfering in the internal affairs of Ukraine and conduct military action on its territory."
