LUHANSK. June 25 (Interfax) - Oleksiy Karyakin, the chairman of the Supreme Council of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), believes Ukraine has in fact recognized the LPR's independence by its actions.
"By disabling the treasury accounts on the LPR territory, Ukraine has so recognized our statehood," Karyakin said at a press conference in Luhansk.
"The Ukrainian government declares that it cares about the people. At the same time, by disabling the treasury accounts, it has deprived hundreds of thousands of its supposed citizens of means of sustenance," Karyakin said.
"We, on our part, were prepared for such a turn and had developed a mechanism in advance that would help us minimize our losses in the current financial situation both for enterprises and LPR citizens," he said.
