Russian, German foreign ministers emphasize need to observe truce in Ukraine

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - The foreign ministers of Russia and Germany, Sergei Lavrov and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, respectively, have discussed the situation in Ukraine during their telephone conversation.

"The ministers continued exchanging their views on possible measures to provide assistance in settling the situation in Ukraine," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"The ministers pointed to the pressing need for the conflicting parties to observe the truce, release the members of the OSCE mission, tackle humanitarian problems in east Ukraine, and establish a sustained dialogue between the authorities in Kyiv and representatives of the southeastern regions," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
