DONETSK. June 27 (Interfax) - Fighting continues near an airfield in the city of Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine, a local militia headquarters spokesman told Interfax on Thursday.
"Fighting is still in progress near the Kramatorsk airfield. Some of our people have been injured. The information available to us indicates that a projectile hit a multi-storey residential building on Dvorstova Street nearly half an hour ago. Fortunately, it did not explode. Tenants are now waiting for sappers," the spokesman said.
According to earlier reports, a gun battle outside the Kramatorsk airfield began in the afternoon on Thursday.
"An unmarked cargo airplane dropped three cases with unknown contents. The plane apparently belongs to the Ukrainian side. A fierce shootout is underway near the airfield at the moment," the spokesman said.
Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, for its part, said that militiamen's attack on the airfield came in violation of the earlier declared ceasefire.
