Georgia and EU sign Association Agreement

BRUSSELS. June 27 (Interfax) - Georgia and the European Union signed an Association and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement in Brussels on Friday.

The document bears the signatures of Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili, Council of Europe President Herman van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

The 1,135-page agreement will now have to be signed by the leaders of the EU's 28 member countries.

The signing ceremony was broadcast live by Georgian television stations.
