Almost 90,000 recruits sent to duty stations - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Draft committees have issued duty decisions regarding over 142,000 recruits, which is about 93% of the target figure for the spring draft, the Russian Defense Ministry press office said.

"Over 88,000 people have already been sent to duty sites, which is 57.2% of all citizens, which are planned to be called to serve," the press office said.

Most recruits and servicemen are brought to duty sites and home by railway or vehicles, the press office said. And recruits are brought to military units located in remote regions - Yakutia, the Kamchatka territory, Sakhalin and Kaliningrad regions - by aircraft of military transport and civilian aviation and by sea, the press office said.

During the 2014 spring draft a total of 154,000 people will be sent to the Russian armed forces and other military formations.
