MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed its condolences to the family of a Russian woman who died in Kenya on July 6 as a result of an attack on a group of tourists by armed criminals.
"We offer our sincere condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the victim. We hope this tragic incident will be investigated as swiftly as possible and those responsible punished severely," the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of Information and Press said on the ministry's website on Monday.
The ministry urged Russians planning trips to Kenya, including for tourism purposes, to pay primary attention to their own security.
On July 6 armed men attacked a group of tourists in the Kenyan city of Mombasa. As a result of the attack a Russian woman sustained a gunshot injury and died later at a local hospital.
