Moscow. July 8 (Interfax) - Moscow has called on candidates for the post of Afghani president to solve every issues by peaceful means only, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission announced preliminary results of the second round of the presidential election, according to which Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai is leading with 56% of votes, on July 7, the ministry recalled.
"At the same time another candidate for presidency, former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah did not recognize the defeat and accuse authorities and the election commission of large-scale falsifications of vote count. In this situation we call on both candidates to wait until the thorough check on the vote results is completed. The results are expected to be announced on July 22," the ministry said in a statement.
"We hope that the situation surrounding the presidential election will be resolve in a peaceful manner. One needs to ensure that the majority of people and Afghanistan's main political forces recognize the election results," the statement reads.
