MARIBOR, Slovenia. July 8 (Interfax) - The U.S. Embassy to Slovenia has made it understood that it is concerned about Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit to this country, while U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry earlier supported this visit, Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec said.
"We have received a hint from the U.S. embassy that they are concerned about this visit. I talked to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry at a meeting of the NATO foreign ministers, and he supported this visit and said that there were no obstacles to it," Erjavec said at a press conference in Maribor on Tuesday.
Kerry said he expected Slovenia to defend NATO's views during Lavrov's visit, he said.
Lavrov said at the same press conference that he was unaware of this situation. "But it's interesting. I thank John Kerry."
