Dozens of Russians, Ukrainians, one Belarusian woman leave Gaza

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - A group of Russians who are going to leave Gaza for Egypt with the help of Russian diplomats are currently at the Egyptian Rafah border checkpoint, said Maksim Romanov, Russia's acting representative to the Palestinian National Authority.

"Our citizens are through the Palestinian part of the checkpoint, now they are on the Egyptian part. They gave all their documents which the Egyptians are currently processing. In practice, it could take them several hours to do all this. Everyone is waiting," he told Interfax

"But again, in practice, people who have reached this stage, would not be turned back," the source said.

The group includes 50 Russians, 20 Ukrainians and one Belarusian woman, the diplomat said.

The Russians in the group are mainly residents from the northern part of the Gaza Strip, Romanov said.
