Luhansk to remain closed for three days

LUHANSK. July 21 (Interfax) - The leadership of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic said it is closing Luhansk from July 21.

"Luhansk will remain closed for three days, starting at midnight, in order to facilitate the search for subversive groups active in the city," the press service of the "Luhansk People's Republic" told Interfax on Sunday.

The leader of the Luhansk People's Republic, Valery Bolotov, has signed a decree banning traffic and surface transport services in the city, according to the republic's website.

"Motor traffic and surface transport services within the city will be banned from 00:00 July 21 until 00:00 July 24, except shuttle mini bus services, to run from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., the movement of the Luhansk republic's military vehicles, and vehicles of the city's rescue, gas and ambulance services, and also motor vehicles transporting food (to remain operational from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.)," the posting says.

"This measure is being taken in connection with intensive subversive operations in the Luhansk People's Republic and the continuing shelling of Luhansk," it says.
