Luhansk People's Republic's militia cut off from supply routes - Ukrainian military

KYIV. July 21 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian military last night forced the militia to leave the Luhansk aerodrome, partially blocking Lysychansk, and cut them from supply routes, the press center for the military operation reported on Monday morning.

According to the report, which was posted on Facebook, the militia made several attempts to leave in the early hours of Monday.

"As a result, the enemy's equipment and troops were destroyed in the fight. Thirty people were taken prisoner. Law enforcement have assumed control over the perimeter of the populated area pf Rubezhnoye. The National Guard and the Ukrainian army are cleansing the territory," the report says.

The press center also reported that the Ukrainian military control the situation and are increasing their advantages on three routes.

"A considerable territory between Artyomovsk, Horlivka, and Konstantynovka has been occupied, more space around the Donetsk is being taken under our control, the circle is becoming tighter," the report says.

At the same time, the militia continue opening fire on the Ukrainian military. Specifically, the Luhansk aerodrome came under fire from a Grad system from the populated area of Ostraya Mogila around 9:00 p.m. on Monday. There were no causualties, the press service has reported.

In addition, checkpoints came under fire near the populated areas of Kodym and Predtechino, the report says.

"The situation on this track is characterized by terrorist activities. Separatists are trying to keep Horlivka, Avdeyevka, and Donetsk under their control," the press center has reported.

A mortar attack on a checkpoint on the outskirts of Artyomovsk did not cause any casualties, the press center has reported.

The militia are trying to keep parts of the districts of Uspenka, Marinovka, and Dyakovoye under their control. "The operative situation in eastern Ukraine remains difficult and has a tendency to aggravate. The situation is the most difficult in the populated areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Krasnodon, Popasnaya, and the area close to the border. Militants have focused on keeping the suburbs under their control," the press center for the military operation has reported.
