MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has satellite pictures of Ukrainian air defense positions in the area where the Malaysian Airlines Boeing crashed, Russian Joint Staff Main Operations Directorate Chief, Lieutenant General Andrei Kartopolov said at a Russian Defense Ministry briefing.
"We have satellite pictures of certain sites where the Ukrainian army's air defense means are positioned in the southeast of the country. The first three photographs are dated July 14. The first picture shows Buk air defense system launchers eight kilometers north-west of Luhansk," Kartopolov said.
The picture depicts well a self-propelled launcher and two launch vehicles, he said.
Radiolocation air defense stations located 5 km north of Donetsk are visible in the second photo, Kartopolov said. "Two radiolocation stations and different equipment and constructions are seen," the general said.
The third picture depicts positions of air defense equipment in area north of Donetsk, Kartopolov said. "Self-propelled turret with a launcher turned, about 60 units of different military and special equipment, covers for equipment and other technical constructions are well distinguishable at the satellite," he said.
