Three rounds fired presumably from Ukraine explode near customs checkpoint in Rostov region of Russia

ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 23 (Interfax) - The personnel of the Russian customs checkpoint of Kuibyshevo in the Rostov region have been evacuated because of intense artillery shelling on the Ukrainian side of the border, the Southern Customs Department told Interfax on Tuesday.

"The customs checkpoint employees were evacuated at about 8:10 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday. Preliminary information indicates that three Ukrainian artillery rounds hit Russian territory not far from the Kuibyshevo customs checkpoint," it said.

Updated information indicates that the rounds fired from Ukrainian territory exploded on the outskirts of the village of Primiussky.

"Local residents told customs officers that the explosions did not cause casualties among civilians," it said.

It was impossible to immediately estimate the damage caused to the village and the customs checkpoint, as the battle on Ukrainian territory was still in progress, it said.
