KYIV. July 24 (Interfax) - The withdrawal of people's deputies from the coalition should not paralyze the work of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada and parliamentarians should continue making decisions important for the country, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
"The Verkhovna Rada is obliged to continue making decisions of state importance: the law on changes to the state budget, passing of which is necessary to finance our army which is heroically defending our country today, and documents, on which cooperation with financial institutions depends," the presidential press office quoted Poroshenko as saying.
The withdrawal of two factions from the coalition shows that some deputies "have not taken a hold of their seats but instead feel the moods of voters and follow them," Poroshenko said. "All polls and direct communication with people show that society wants a complete reboot of the authorities," the president said.
The UDAR and Svoboda factions announced earlier their exit from the coalitions of deputy factions in the Verkhovna Rada.
If a new coalition is not formed within 30 days, this will give the president grounds to dissolve Rada and hold early elections.
Fifteen non-affiliated deputies left the coalition, unaffiliated Deputy Serhiy Mishchenko said from the Verkhovna Rada stand.
Batkivschyna said it was ready for early elections after the successful completion of the counter-terrorism operation in eastern Ukraine.
The coalitions of deputy factions European Choice was formed on February 27, 2014. It included 250 deputies. The coalition was formed by the factions of Batkivschyna, UDAR, Svoboda, Economic Development group, Sovereign European Ukraine group and other deputies.
As of now, the UDAR faction has 41 deputies, Svoboda faction - 35, Batkivschyna - 86, Economic Development - 41 and Sovereign European Ukraine 35. At the same time, the Party of Regions faction includes 86 deputies, the Communist Party faction was dissolved on Thursday and had 23 parliamentarians, and 34 were in the For Peace and Stability group. As of early Thursday 72 deputies were not affiliated with any faction or group.
Coalition should have at least 226 people's deputies.
