Ukraine president seeks urgent Rada debate on Yatsenyuk's resignation

KYIV. July 25 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has asked Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov to urgently arrange a parliamentary debate concerning the possible resignation of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

"Given the broad public outcry provoked by Prime Minister Yatsenyuk's statement on his resignation, made on July 24, 2014, I am asking you to put this issue up for debate in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as soon as possible," Poroshenko said in an official letter to Turchynov on Thursday evening.

However, the cabinet led by Yatsenyuk should continue to fulfill its duties, the president said.

"Hopefully, these hot emotions will subside and common sense and the feeling of responsibility will prevail, as a result of which the whole Cabinet of Ministers will be able to continue its work," he said.
