MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian special services shave arrested Mykolayiv "people's mayor" Dmytro Nikonov, the militia have reported.
"Dmytro Nikonov, people's mayor of Mykolayiv, was elected at a rally. He is a civil protest leader and he has never encroached on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Nevertheless, he was arrested by Ukrainian Security Service officials on Monday after returning from Russia," Konstantin Knyrik, the head of the Southeast Front information center, told Interfax.
According to Knyrik, the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are accusing Nikonov of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
"Nikonov's residence was searched. There is information that the search did not yield anything illegal," Knyrik said.
