DONETSK. July 30 (Interfax) - The Shaktarsk-Torez road, which has been partially controlled by the Ukrainian army since last Sunday, has been unblocked by Tuesday evening, according to the Donbas-based militia.
"The strike group of the first, second and fourth Slovyansk battalions, backed by the Kalmius unit, unblocked the Shakhtarsk-Torez road. Two tanks and one Nona self-propelled launcher of the enemy have been destroyed," the DPR representatives told Interfax.
The militias also reported an attack by a group of militia scouts near the village of Yelenovka 15 kilometers south of Donetsk. "A group of our scouts clashed with the Ukrainian reconnaissance units. The enemy had about ten people injured," the militia said.
Also, militia clashed with the Ukrainian "Azov" territorial-defense battalion near Amvrosiyivka, the militia said. Fighting also continues in the village of Stepanivka near the Saur-Grave mound. "Stepanivka is divided between the militia and the Ukrainian army. Skirmishes are under way. Saur Grave is still under militia control," the Donbas militia headquarters said.
The press center of the Ukrainian army operation in eastern Ukraine reported earlier on Tuesday that militia continued to fire Grad gun and missile systems and mortars against the Luhansk airport.
The militia "continues to put up resistance and to fire mortars, gun and missile systems and 155-millimeter cannons against our firing positions located in the towns of Snizhne, Shakhtarsk and Torez," it said.
"It has also been noted that the activity of illegal armed groups has been declining," the press center said.
Also, according to a post on the official page of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on July 28, the Ukrainian troops have freed Stepanivka.
