YEREVAN. Aug 4 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijan Armed Forces repeatedly violated the ceasefire on the Armenian-Azeri border and on the contact line between the Karabakh and Azeri forces in the early hours of August 4, a spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry told Interfax on Monday.
The fire was coming from "large-caliber weapons," the spokesperson said.
"According to the latest reports obtained from the Armenian Air Forces and the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army, on August 3 - 4 Azerbaijan breached the ceasefire regime 859 times, including 830 times on the Karabakh stretch. A total of 11,495 shots were fired from firearms of varying caliber at Armenian sentries," the Armenian Defense Ministry said.
Armenia returned fire 29 times, including 12 times on the Karabakh stretch, it said.
"The Armenian side fired 3,616 shots at the adversary," the Defense Ministry said.
