ROSTOV-ON-DON. Aug 6 (Interfax) - The OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) group in the Rostov region will increase to 15 members on Friday, a spokesperson for the regional government said.
"According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's representative office in the Rostov region, ten OSCE monitors are arriving in Rostov-on-Don on August 8 to join this organization's permanent group monitoring the movement of cargo and people through two border checkpoints - Gukovo and Donetsk - in the Rostov region," the statement said.
Currently, four monitors are working at the checkpoints - two from Kyrgyzstan, one from Moldova and one from Hungary. The group is led by Paul Picard.
Next week Picard will be at the delegation's headquarters in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, where he is expected to hold a briefing for the Russian and foreign media.
OSCE monitors, along with Russian border guards and Southern Customs officers, will spend three months monitoring the legality of the movement of cargo, vehicles and people through the Gukovo and Donetsk checkpoints.
