Arab League is ready to assist national dialogue in Libya - Arab League ambassador in Moscow

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - The Arab League is ready to act as a mediator in the negotiations between the Libyan authorities and other political force in the country, Jalal Mashta, the head of the Arab League mission to Moscow, said.

"We are hoping that the Libyans can get together, and the Arab League will help them with that, in particular, by acting as a mediator between the conflict parties," he said in an interview with Interfax.

Responding to a question as to whether he believes the overthrowing of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi was good for the people of Libya, Mashta said that "any undemocratic rule is not good."

"The question is how and with what it is replaced. Unfortunately, stability has not yet come to this country," he said.

"You know that the process of transition from one form of governance to a totally different one is always difficult. According to the theory of political science, sometimes this process takes

12-14 years," Mashta said.
