MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The first of four echelons with personnel and equipment from the Eastern Military District has crossed the Russian-Chinese border to go to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) international drills Peace Mission 2014, which will begin at China's Zhurihe range on August 24.

"The crossing to China of about 100 units of military and special equipment on platforms and almost 900 servicemen in 14 compartment carriages will be carried out within 24 hours,"

Eastern Military District press office head, Colonel Alexander Gordeyev told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

When crossing the border the echelon crosses a narrower railroad track. The re-loading of equipment is carried out either with a crane or by changing the wheels on the trains, he said.
