Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies, Urals Civil Aircraft Plant to build drones together

ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow region). Aug 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies and the Urals Civil Aircraft Plant have pledged to cooperate in the development and construction of prospective airborne radio-electronic complexes, their component parts and sub-systems for brand new and modernized drones.

"Cooperation will develop in the creation and commissioning of comprehensive projects (piloting, fuel and cable systems and so on) for the existent and prospective unmanned aerial vehicles. The concern undertakes to develop a piloting and navigation system to modernize drones constructed by the plant before 2016 and to engage in a number of other promising projects," the concern press service said in a report posted at the Engineering Technologies-2014 forum held in Zhukovsky, Moscow region.

The report cited Concern General Director Nikolai Kolesov as saying that the concern possessed key skills for the accomplishment of a significant mission, the creation of Russia's world-class technological potential for UAV projects.

"The concern is developing every avionics system for military and civilian UAV flights and is ready to propose a UAV project of its own. It would be a universal vehicle for any UAV type, military or civilian, built as either a plane or a helicopter," Kolesov said.

In turn, Urals Civil Aircraft Plant Director Vadim Badekha said the plant had been actively working on UAV systems. "Combined efforts with Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies will accelerate the development of new drone systems and make us prepared to fulfill new and larger orders from Russian and foreign clients," he said.

The press service said Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies would develop and build new radio-electronic complexes and their own software, certify and integrate the complexes into UAV, and support the operation of radio-electronic complexes throughout their life cycle, including modernization.

The Urals Civil Aircraft Plant will develop specifications for new radio-electronic complexes and hold their bench trials with the assistance of Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies, the press service said.

The third international forum Engineering Technologies-2014 has witnessed the premiere of a comprehensive project of airborne radio-electronic equipment of a prospective UAV Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies has volunteered to develop.
