ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian company Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau has won an auction for a contract for designing and building a floating dock for Krasnaya Kuznitsa, an Arkhangelsk-based branch of the Zvyozdochka shipyard company.
Documents posted on a state purchases website suggest that Almaz, which is based in St. Petersburg, was the only bidder, offering to charge 4.9 billion rubles for the project, which was a great deal below the contract cost quoted initially. Almaz promised to finish the project by March 2018 and provide five-year quality guarantees.
Krasnaya Kuznitsa needs a box floating self-docking dock fitted with a device for rolling ships into it from horizontal berths.
The dock must be 130 meters long and have a floor width of 35 meters, be usable in air temperatures between plus 40 and minus 30 degrees Celsius and water temperatures between plus 2 and plus 22 degrees Celsius, have a minimum carrying capacity of 15,500 tonnes, and have three keel-track cribbings.
The project is part of a Krasnaya Kuznitsa modernization plan based on the 2011-2020 federal defense industry program.
