Lavrov: Russia to strengthen Iraq, Syria combating terrorism (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - Moscow is ready to support Iraq and Syria struggling against terrorists but any use of force is possible only with consent of relevant countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We will be ready for a joint work and coordination of our actions, in the first turn, with the countries which have experienced a direct terrorist threat, I mean Iraq and Syria; we will help strengthen their capacity for withstanding armed terrorists," Lavrov said at a press briefing in Moscow on Monday.

"We will be ready to cooperate with countries which share our goals in the antiterrorism struggle and we will insist that any force against terrorists be used with consent of relevant states and with due respect for their sovereignty," the Russian foreign minister pointed out.
