Donetsk needs Russian humanitarian aid - DPR administration

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - Andrei Purgin, first deputy prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, said he is hoping the second Russian humanitarian convoy will be sent to Donetsk.

"We are in a very difficult humanitarian situation: there is no flour, bread factories are not working, and we have problems with medication, food and water. We are really hoping that the new convoy will go to Donetsk," Purgin told Interfax.

Purgin reiterated that the militia are ready to ensure the safety of the humanitarian convoy and the people accompanying it.

"No doubt, we will accompany the convoy and ensure its safety. No active military action is currently taking place on the proposed route of the convoy. However, we don't rule out provocations, which we are ready to avert," Purgin said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that Russia has informed Kyiv of its intention to prepare another humanitarian convoy.
