Minsk summit participants agree on looking for compromises - Lukashenko

MINSK. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Despite different positions, the participants in the Tuesday negotiations in Minsk agreed on the need to look for compromises, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said following the summit.

"I should note that the parties' positions differ, but everyone agreed on one thing: it's necessary to look for compromises," Lukashenko said in summing up the outcomes of the summit between the leaders of the Belarusian-Kazakh-Russian Customs Union member-states and Ukraine and EU representatives.

The parties agreed on the need "to de-escalate the conflict [in eastern Ukraine], release hostages, resolve the problems with refugees, and provide humanitarian aid," he added.
