Almost 4,000 Ukrainian citizens arrive in Ryazan region

RYAZAN. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Eight hundred and seventy citizens of Ukraine arrived in the Ryazan region on Monday, the regional social welfare ministry told journalists.

Overall, there are 3,950 displaced persons from Ukraine in the Ryazan region, it said.

"A train arrived from Ukraine on Monday bringing in Ukrainian citizens. They were greeted by representatives of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Ryazan department, police officials, psychologists, medical personnel and social workers," the regional emergencies department said.

"They helped the Ukrainian citizens to carry their baggage to busses which took them to their temporary residences in Ryazan and in the Klepikovsky district, where officials with local rescue, firefighting and social welfare services helped them settle and provided them with everything the will need in their new homes," the press service said.

The temporary accommodation center had been earlier checked by the local fire services.

Fire fighters, policemen and emergency services are monitoring the temporary accommodation centers round the clock. The Ukrainian citizens will soon meet with migration, social welfare and employment officials.
