Criminal investigations department chief in Tver region suspected of patronizing illegal gaming establishments

MOSCOW. Sept 3 (Interfax) - The chief of the Russian Interior Ministry criminal investigations department for the Tver region is suspected of patronizing illegal gaming activities, the Interior Ministry department for the Tver region reported on its website.

"A procedural decision has been made in relation to the chief of the Interior Ministry criminal investigations department for the Tver region. The police official is suspected of patronizing illegal gaming activities in the Tver region. The policeman has been detained," it said.

The regional Interior Ministry department is conducting an internal investigation. If the official is found guilty, he will be discharged from police, and his immediate superiors will be disciplined, it said.

The website says the chief of the local criminal investigations department is Vyacheslav Bogatyryov.
