ASHULUK, Astrakhan region. Sept 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Live fire exercises of S-400 and Buk-M1 air defense missile system crews are underway at the Ashuluk range in the Astrakhan region in southern Russia as an element of the Russian-Indian exercises Aviaindra 2014, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman for the Air Force Col. Igor Klimov said.
"Russian-Indian crews are practicing the deterrence of a simulated enemy attack with launches of S-400, S-300PM, Buk-M1 and Pantsir-S1 missile systems," Klimov told reporters.
In his words, air defense missile shooting supported by aviation is an important part of the active phase of the Russian-Indian exercises underway at the Pogonovo range in the Voronezh region and the Ashuluk range in the Astrakhan region.
The first stage of the exercises will end in Russia on September 5. The second stage is supposed to begin in India on November 10.
