TBILISI. Sept 8 (Interfax) - The United States welcomes Georgia's plans to modernize the national armed forces, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told journalists in Tbilisi on Sunday.
Hagel said shortly after his arrival in Georgia on a two-day visit that the U.S. would continue military cooperation with Georgia. He said he had discussed possible supplies of U.S. helicopters to Georgia with Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Alasania, as well as steps Georgia would have to take in this connection.
