MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax-AVN) - An Antonov An-30B observation aircraft of Russian inspectors will go on an Open Skies mission in France.
"The observation flight will be conducted on September 8-12, 2014, from the Orleans-Bricy Open Skies airport to a maximum distance of 2,078 kilometers," acting Head of the National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Zabello told Interfax-AVN.
He said the flight aimed to bolster the openness and transparency in military activities of Open Skies Treaty member countries and to build confidence.
The Russian plane will fly along the route coordinated with the host country and French specialists will remain on board to monitor the use of the observation equipment and compliance with the Open Skies Treaty regulations.
This is Russia's 27th Open Skies mission in 2014.
