Shelling resumes near Donetsk airport after quiet night - city council

KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The situation was relatively quiet in Donetsk overnight, with sounds of small-arms weapons heard in several parts of the city, according to local residents.

By 9 a.m. local time (10 a.m. Moscow time) sounds of gunfire and explosions are heard again near the airport, with plumes of smoke rising into the air, the Donetsk city council said on its website on Wednesday.

By 8 a.m. 39 transformer substations remained without power in the Kyivskyi, Kuibyshevskyi and Petrovskyi districts of the city. Public transport services are running as usual.
