EU foreign ministers to discuss Ukraine on Oct 20, Russia sanctions not on agenda - source

MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The foreign ministers of the European Union member-states will discuss the situation in Ukraine at a meeting in Brussels on October 20, a European diplomatic source told Interfax.

Asked whether sanctions against Russia could be discussed at this meeting as well, the source said this issue is not on the agenda. At the same time, he pointed out that the European Union directly ties sanctions to the situation in Ukraine, which it is monitoring on a permanent basis.

Sanctions always remain on the table as an option, and the ministers have always discussed the situation in Ukraine at such meetings of late, he said.
